Title: Bidoro O Fuku Musume (Young woman blowing a Bidoro) by Utamaro
Size: 13 inches wide by 24 inches long including tabs. Ready to hang--natural bamboo rod included.
Description: Lady's kimono in bright deep pink with lt pink and red accents. Some metallic gold outlining. On deep royal purple background. Deep royal purple mottled border.
History: Reprint on fabric from a ukiyo-e (floating world) print by Kitagawa Utamaro (1771-1806). The bidoro (or poppen) is a trumpet-shaped toy made of glass that when blown into makes a popping sound. This popular toy of its time, was imported to Japan during the Edo period from Portugal.
Our small size wall hangings are made from handkerchiefs, scarves and small furoshiki. They are machine quilted, hand-guided, using two layers of low loft polyester batting to provide added depth and dimension. Sizes listed under each item are approximate. For the width, the panel size itself is measured not the rod (which extends an inch or so past the panel on each side))--and the length is measured from the top of the tabs to the bottom of the panel.
