Hanging Specifications:
| Our
Large Wall Hangings
are made from 100% cotton or cotton/rayon blend furoshiki (the
large scarves used traditionally in Japan to bundle packages for either
gifts or just to carry). They are machine quilted using two layers of low
loft polyester batting to provide added depth and dimension. Sizes listed
under each item are approximate. For the width, the finished panel size
itself is measured--and the length is measured from the top of the tabs
to the bottom of the panel. Most are approximately 42 wide by 48 high (including
the tab tops). Customer will need to provide the rod and hardware to hang
them. A rod diameter of about 1- 3/8 inches is best for balance. Cost of
quilted furoshiki wall hangings varies, starting from $160.00 and up. |

Scroll Wall Hangings (long and narrow) are
made from printed 100% cotton fabric panels, tenugui (printed cotton 'towels')
or a noren (doorway curtain). They are machine quilted using
two layers of low loft polyester batting to provide added depth and dimension.
Sizes listed under each item are approximate. For the width, the panel size
itself is measured not the rod (which extends an inch or so past the panel
on each side)--and the length is measured from the top of the tabs to the
bottom of the panel. They vary in size from about 17 to 22 inches wide and
from 38 to up to 56 inches long. They come ready to hang with self tabs
and a natural bamboo 'rod ' and cord included. All you need is a nail or
hook. Cost varies, starting at around $110.00 and up. |

Horizontal Wall Hangings (wide)
are usually made from tenugui that are printed horizontally
so the panel is wider than it is long. They
are machine quilted using two layers of low loft polyester batting
to provide added depth and dimension. Sizes
listed under each item are approximate. For the width, the panel size itself
is measured and the length is measured from the top of the tabs to the bottom
of the panel. Rods are not included with the horizontal wall hangings. |

Small Wall Hangings
are made from handkerchiefs, scarves and small furoshiki. They are
machine quilted using two layers of low loft polyester batting to provide
added depth and dimension. Sizes listed under each item are approximate.
For the width, the panel size itself is measured not the rod (which extends
an inch or so past the panel on each side))--and the length is measured
from the top of the tabs to the bottom of the panel. They vary in size from
about 11 to 20 inches wide and from 20 to 33 inches long. They also come
ready to hang with self tabs and a natural bamboo 'rod' and cord included.
Cost varies, starting at around $50.00 and up. |

Important
Note: Wall
hangings, like fine tapestries, are subject to fade with time. To prevent
premature sun damage it is extremely important to locate wall hangings
away from sunlight. Japanesque Accents cannot guarantee fabrics from sun
damage. Take care to select a location to hang the wall hanging that is
out of direct sunlight to help preserve its colors longer.

| General
Care of Wall hangings:--General Care of Wall hangings: After
receiving your wall hanging, hang it as soon as you can to help release
any wrinkles that might have formed during shipping. If the creases do not
fall out within a couple days after hanging, they may be eliminated by a
couple of different methods: The first, by hanging it near a source of steam
for a day or two (close to the shower or bath). The second, by using the
steam setting on a steam iron placed just barely touching the surface of
the cloth--never pressing down (this will permanently flatten the batting
core). If trying this method, take care not to directly touch with the iron
any shiny metallic printed areas that may be in the disign of your wall
hanging--as the metallic printing could melt. The third, to hang some light
weights (like lead fishing weights) to the bottom hem of the wall hanging
and allow them to gently pull the wrinkles out. If none of these techniques
works to eliminate the wrinkles, please consult a professional dry cleaner.
The wall hanging should never need cleaning--just beat with your hand to
remove dust--and, if you must, spot clean only with a mild detergent and
water. |

Availability:
Many
of these wall hangings are one of a kind and usually cannot be duplicated
with the exact fabrics once the original, pictured, is sold. Due to this
quick turn over of wall hangings Japanesque Accents does not have a printed
brochure to mail. Most of the collection of Japanesque Accents wall hangings
is showcased here on the web site. If you have a special request, computer
scans of other wall hangings that have just become available can be sent
to your e-mail address along with descriptions of size and color. Actual
fabric samples of the border fabrics that frame the wall hangings, if necessary,
can be mailed to your address for color matching to your decor. |
